Platform/DevOps Engineer
Do you want to be a part of a team dedicated to become a global leader and help in solving climate change?
CarbonCloud is looking for a platform engineer to join our development team based in Gothenburg, Sweden. We develop SaaS software that help food producers globally to calculate and reduce their climate footprint.
What will you do
CarbonCloud is the climate intelligence platform that enables food producers to map out their supply chain, calculate their climate footprint, and centrally communicate the results in ClimateHub. Our mission is to get every food producer in the world on our platform. You will become an important piece of that puzzle by keeping our cloud-based platform and infrastructure stable. You will also support and enable the rest of the development team with tooling around building, deploying, scaling and monitoring our software. As a platform engineer at CarbonCloud you will collaborate closely with the rest of the development team and be the go-to expert in everything relating to our cloud infrastructure and developer platform. At CarbonCloud we support and help each other out if we get stuck (or have a bad day). As part of a small and diverse team, there are plenty of opportunities to try new things and have a big impact.
Our tech stack consists of:
- Terraform
- Kubernetes
- AWS
- Docker
- PostgreSQL
- Elasticsearch and Kibana
- Prometheus and Grafana
- Argo CD
- Haskell and Elm
Who you are
You have a strong understanding of modern cloud-based infrastructure and infrastructure as code. You have experience from Terraform, Docker and Kubernetes, preferably on AWS. You are collaborative, communicative and self-driven – you enjoy working in a team but you can also work independently. You like to support and mentor other developers within your area of expertise as much as you like to learn from others. You are not afraid to wear different hats and help out with whatever needs to be done.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership over building, maintaining and improving our cloud infrastructure using tools such as Terraform, Kubernetes and Docker
- Support and mentor your developer colleagues, by providing tools and expertise around building, deploying and operating CarbonCloud's products in production
- Potentially take part in an on-call rotation
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience within software engineering in general
- At least 2+ years specifically as Platform Engineer or in a similar role (DevOps, SRE, Cloud Infrastructure Engineer etc)
- You have experience building, maintaining and troubleshooting infrastructure in a cloud environment, preferably AWS
- You have run and leveraged Kubernetes in production
- You have experience with Docker
- You have experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
- You are a team player and you like to collaborate with others, but you are also self-driven and able to work independently
Additional information:
- Scope Full-time employment (with a 6-month probationary period)
- 30 days of vacation annually
- Fitness Subsidy of 2000 SEK
- Health insurance
- Location: Office in central Gothenburg, Aschebergsgatan 44 (Hybrid work)
Please note: if you are not an EU citizen you must have full working rights aligned with Swedish laws.

Work on the biggest issue of our generation
Your time is precious. Spend it where it matters. -
Lots of room to shape your work
We expect You to know You best. In general, you get to pick your tools and decide how to make the most of them. -
Get better together
You'll be working closely with motivated people that joined the company since they want to change the world. But we are doing something very new, and we are figuring it out together as we go. Sharing mistakes and learnings makes us better at this.
Workplace & Culture
Working here is a great way to try out new things and push your comfort zone, if you want to. We don't have a specialist in every area yet, counting on the team being flexible and stepping in wherever needed. Some of us stick to our ordinary job descriptions, but we also have developers trying out sales, and designers doing marketing.
We are flexible with hours and remote work where needed, trusting everyone to do their best to work in a way that's effective. We're currently doing a mixed setup with some people working remotely full time. We are looking forward to working together at the office after the pandemic!
About CarbonCloud
We do climate footprint calculations for food producers, insights on where to improve, and transparency to consumers through packaging labels. The science is hard, the product is simple. We are building a global network of climate calculations - improve one calculation, and the others react.
